PUBLIC NOTICE: Waiver Renewals for Intellectual Disability/Related Disabilities (ID/RD) & Medically Complex Children (MCC)

BHDD encourages South Carolinians to embrace recovery and celebrate progress

Columbia, SC – September 2, 2026 – The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) is proud to join communities across the nation in observing National Recovery Month this September and celebrating the more than 470,000 South Carolinians living in recovery from a substance use disorder (SUD). 

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) has given notice it intends to file waiver renewals with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the Intellectual Disability/Related Disabilities (ID/RD) (SC.0237) and the Medically Complex Children (MCC) (SC.0675) home and community-based services waivers. The ID/RD waiver is operated by the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD-OIDD). The MCC waiver is operated by SCDHHS.
