Waccamaw Center for Mental Health (WCMH), one of 16 community mental health centers operated by the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Office of Mental Health (BHDD OMH), provides outpatient mental health services to children, adolescents, adults and families in Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties. The center has been in operation since 1967 with the focus of providing services to adults, children and families who are impacted by mental illness. Each county in our service area has a clinic that provides similar “core” services of individual and family outpatient therapy. In addition, each county has developed additional programs to meet the specific needs of the local population.
