Heightened Scrutiny Category 2 settings: Submission to CMS; South Carolina Home and Community-Based Services Statewide Transition Plan updates.

The South Carolina Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Statewide Transition Plan is going through a public comment period. During the public comment period, which will occur from Feb. 10 - March 12, 2021, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) is soliciting feedback for the following: 

  • SCDHHS is submitting a list of settings in the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (SCDDSN) network to CMS for heightened scrutiny review under Category 2, defined as buildings on the grounds of, or immediately adjacent to, a public institution; and,
  • The final approved South Carolina HCBS Statewide Transition Plan has been revised to reflect date changes, updated heightened scrutiny settings numbers, and other technical change revisions. 

The comment period is Feb. 10 – March 12, 2021.

Comments on the heightened scrutiny submission or the Statewide Transition Plan may be submitted during the webinar or in writing to:

    PUBLIC NOTICE: Waiver Renewals for Intellectual Disability/Related Disabilities (ID/RD) & Medically Complex Children (MCC)

    The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) has given notice it intends to file waiver renewals with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the Intellectual Disability/Related Disabilities (ID/RD) (SC.0237) and the Medically Complex Children (MCC) (SC.0675) home and community-based services waivers. The ID/RD waiver is operated by the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD-OIDD). The MCC waiver is operated by SCDHHS.
