BHDD is a leading provider of inpatient mental health and substance use treatment services. Inpatient programs are offered for individuals who may need a more intensive level of treatment and care.

BHDD's system of inpatient services, programs, and facilities are operational 24 hours per day providing:

  • Inpatient psychiatric treatment for children, adolescents, and adults
  • Forensic evaluation and treatment services for adults
  • Substance use disorder treatment for adults
  • Intermediate skilled nursing care

Hospitals & Inpatient Services

BHDD clinical staff provide a complete array of mental health services for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Following a thorough assessment, treatment plans are tailored to meet the needs of each individual patient. Services may include individual, group, and family therapy with a trained therapist, psychiatric medical assessments with a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner, supportive nursing services, crisis intervention, and care coordination. All BHDD mental health facilities are licensed or accredited by applicable accreditation groups.

  • All 16 BHDD community mental health centers are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services.
  • Morris Village Treatment Center, the agency’s inpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility, is licensed by the South Carolina Department of Public Health and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services.
  • BHDD's psychiatric hospitals are accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the South Carolina Department of Public Health.
  • BHDD's skilled nursing home facility is licensed by the South Carolina Department of Public Health and certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
